Common Symptoms of Digestive Health Problems

Gut problems are some of the most common diseases in the population. We have all suffered from indigestion or some other stomach issue every now and then. There are certain symptoms of each disorder, however, being a single system, many different diseases end up producing the same symptoms. Here we describe some of the most common gut symptoms that may have been caused due to different problems.

Stomach ache

The typical ache in the stomach is a classic sign of GI disturbance. However, there are a number of organs in the abdomen and the pain can be due to any one of them. Peptic ulcer, irritable bowel syndrome or even the normal mass movements of the day produces the characteristic colicky pain of digestive health problems.

Heartburn

Remember that feeling of burning pain in your chest. Some people describe it similar to having a heart attack. This is a common digestive health problem and is due to the food accumulating in the digestive system. Commonly, this symptom implies the involvement of the upper GI tract, including the esophagus and the stomach. Typical diseases include reflux disease, peptic ulcers, and excessive acid secretion.

Diarrhea and vomiting

From the very start of our lives, these two digestive health problems have surrounded us. Part of this is because diarrhea and vomiting are a part of the inherent safety mechanism of the digestive system. As soon as the gut lining is irritated, it undergoes rapid movements that cause its contents to be pushed out at both ends, diarrhea, and vomiting. This ultimately gets rid of the toxic factors so that the gut can heal.

Constipation

Almost all of us are familiar with the suffering of the inability to have a good bowel movement. Again, this symptom implies some derangement in the digestive system. Usually, it is the inadequate diet which is responsible. However, certain diseases like Hirschsprung diseases, toxic ileitis and a couple of other digestive system problems can result in this disorder.

Bloating

It can be quite embarrassing to be unable to control your gut. However, bloating can be so severe as to actually cause pain. The person is unable to hold in the excessive air and this leads to painful dilation of the intestines. Bloating can be caused due to a variety of problems, including the proliferation of toxic bacteria in the intestine.

All of these symptoms are some of the common symptoms of digestive health problems. You can see that many symptoms relate with one another and that each symptom may represent a simple or a sinister disease. Hence, it is always a good idea whenever you have any problem of the digestive system. It’s always better to be safe and cautious from the very beginning!
